This work was just finished today, after a brief hiatus. I do say it loses a lot of detail in the process of shrinking and taking a photo of it is a pain, with the glares that it gives off. I should get myself a scanner bigger than A4… You can see the details in my post here.

Done in acrylic ink above some Chinese ink and ink pens.

In a response to a contest down at Saint Rock Hats, I drew this comic. This would be my first officially finished one too! Click to see a larger size.

It took a while, but I think it’s nice for a first effort. I gained a new respect for comic artists!

Look! The tiniest of lizards managed to crawl under the door crack. Really fast for its size but not hard enough to catch.

I think I finally figured out a better way to make my Wacom pen more accurate! I twiddled with some Corel Painter settings and it got to bliss!

I usually hold my pencil rather firmly and don’t want the width to change, so I adjusted it accordingly. Out came the following coloured sketch:

I found RainyMood.com over in someone’s links and fell in love. Gosh, that’s a perfect backdrop to some classical music I might listen to! It’s running now, the rain pouring away virtually. It’s very relaxing.

We don’t get rain very often at all. It’s a matter of a downpour three times a year, lasting several days and thoroughly flooding the main roads. It’s an annual disaster, although loved by the locals longing for some rain, myself included.

Just take a look at this! That’s a very quiet inner road, no big deal. Imagine city streets filling up. Whole inter-emirate roads! I’m looking at you, Emirates Road!

Fried up a bunch of these the other day – three different fillings! Makes for a delightful, albeit fattening treat. Can’t stop at one. Heck, can’t stop at three, or four. Or five. A minimum of three anyway, if you want to try all three fillings – delicious cabbage, potatoes & mushrooms and spring onion and egg. Yum.

MEGA Vinyl Toy Exhibition – My Take

An exhibition down at Dubai International Financial Centre, where I am taking part alongside other 99 artists. Lovely idea, organising all this. We get a plain white vinyl 8″ toy and let ourselves go wild!

Plenty of great ideas – a Lady GaGa-inspired toy, a couple of bolt-encrusted toys, a woolly warrior and an airbrushed Filipino tribesman – and that’s just the 5 of them!

Mine was a challenge to paint at first – gouache flaked off the minute it dried and pulling the arms off was not something I’d ever try again. After a coat of black primer, it was ready to be taken over by acrylics.

Like I predicted, a lot of people would be confusing the design with the aboriginal styles of Australia. Can’t blame them, it does look really close.

A singer, a DJ and lots of people wearing fun, club clothes. It may have been due to the other presentation happening in a gallery just next to us, but the crowd aroundour MEGAs never reduced!

Sizzling Summer!

Nothing like a bit of hot, blistering summer! I rather liked this, I think I’ll follow on. I have a giant image collection, would be put to use.

A very relaxing sight, moving along tight alleyways. This part of Dubai is stylised to look old, some buildings restored, some built anew.
